Joe and Maureen have been married for 44 years and have
worked in the ministry of marriage and preparation for
marriage for 20 years.
Joe graduated from University of Rhode Island where he
earned a B.S and an M.S in education and retired after
35 years of teaching. He also graduated from the Diocesan
School for Christian Ministry. Joe was involved as a Coordinator
in a Christian Community for 20 years. During this time,
he ran a Christian summer camp for children for 7 years.
He later became a care manager for the disabled. |
Maureen is a graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School or Nursing,
and worked as an R.N. in local hospitals for 19 years. She was
also involved as a leader and teacher for 20 years in the same
Christian Community, working with women and families.
As a couple, Joe and Maureen have attended both marriage seminars
and marriage weekends. During the 5-year period that they were
involved in CFM, they made a Cursillo. In their ministry, they
have served many couples as their mentors and worked with engaged
couples.
They have done retreats for marriage and the preparation for
marriage for 20 years at the Sacred Hearts Retreat Center in
Wareham, Massachusetts. Joe and Maureen have also traveled to
do mission work for the Catholic Church in Poland, Germany, and
Slovakia, as well as many parishes in the U.S.
They are blessed with four wonderful daughters, four great sons-in-law,
and sixteen of God's special blessings, grandchildren. Their
hearts' desire is to serve the Lord and to keep showing couples
the wonderful plan that God has for marriage and family life.
Programs/topics include:
Sacred Hearts Marriage Preparation -
- Goal: To bring each couple
into a deeper awareness of the Father's love for them individually
and corporately, and a deeper awareness
of the blessings of their sacrament.
- Objective: By the end
of each weekend, each couple would have experienced the love
of Jesus Christ in themselves and
one another.
- Perspective: The team has personally experienced
marriage encounters and many weekends and seminars centered
on marriage. Through
prayer and many discussion sessions, we have put together
weekends for married couples, with sessions including prayer,
Mass,
teachings, repentance, quiet time, social time, group discussions
with an
overall atmosphere of joy, and love of Jesus; to both promote
growth and support for the Sacrament of Marriage. Our first
priority is to make each couple feel comfortable in coming
to the weekend
through an atmosphere of joy in the Lord and trust in the
Holy Spirit to fill them with a thirst and love for Jesus,
worked out through one another.
