Mozambique

Renewal Ministries made its first mission to Mozambique in 2015, to determine the viability of an ongoing collaboration there. Lloyd and Nancy Greenhaw served as the country coordinators. They facilitated a Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference during their time there. Many young people, and young mothers with their children, attended the event. They taught on the Five Keys and had an empowerment and healing session. There was much healing, and the conference was well-received.

With the invitation and approval of the local archbishop, our service in Mozambique has since included leading a large conference, and teaching on Unbound and the New Evangelization.

Latest Field Report

Many reported healing and others found peace. It was a real eye-opener for many and all were blessed.

About Missions

We are currently working in more than thirty countries in Central and Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Africa, Asia, the South Pacific, the Middle East, Mexico, and North and South America. Mission trips are typically one- to three-weeks long. The rallies, conferences, retreats, and training seminars usually include talks, prayer ministry, liturgy, testimonies, and worship. Most missions have a Charismatic dimension, but are intended to be an event for the whole Church.

The primary role of the mission team member is to participate in prayer ministry in the context of the events mentioned above. Those in attendance are invited to receive more of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit through prayer ministry. Team members may also have an opportunity to share their testimonies, and to help in other capacities as needed. The mission teams include people of all ages and vocations—lay, clergy, and religious who feel a call to mission.

While expertise in prayer ministry is not required, it is helpful for a mission team member to have some experience in charismatic-style prayer, and be comfortable with praying for people.

Practical Information

Each team member is responsible for all of his or her expenses. Costs include round trip plane ticket, meals, lodging and on-site ground transportation. Team members typically purchase their own airline ticket (after being approved as a team member and with direction from the Country Coordinator of the mission trip) and additionally remit to Renewal Ministries a “Land Payment” which covers all meals, lodging and in-country transportation. Land payments can range from $500 to $1,500, depending on the location and the length of the mission. Missions range from one to three weeks in length. Many team members raise money for their mission trip costs by requesting help from their parishes, prayer groups and family members.

Medical Professionals

Renewal Ministries conducts medical/evangelistic mission trips to Mexico City to minister to the impoverished, elderly, and orphaned. This is an opportunity for medical professionals and others who feel called to works of mercy to use their talents to serve the poor in practical ways.

Lloyd and Nancy Greenhaw

Lloyd and Nancy Greenhaw responded to Pope John Paul's encyclical Mission of the Redeemer in April of 1991, by leaving successful careers in order to serve the Church in the full-time ministry of Catholic evangelization. Lloyd was a representative for a Fortune 500 Company, and Nancy enjoyed a career as an award-winning watercolor artist and teacher. Together, they have raised two daughters and currently have fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

In the USA, Lloyd and Nancy have ministered through parish missions, conferences and retreats for adults and youth, prison ministry, and work with the homeless. In conjunction with Renewal Ministries, they teach evangelization schools in various regions of the country.

As Renewal Ministries’ country coordinators, they have led numerous outreaches to several African countries, as well as Turkey, Haiti, Samoa, and Papua New Guinea. They work closely with Church authorities to teach catechesis, apologetics, and the New Evangelization.

The Greenhaw family also has a music ministry that plays both traditional music and original compositions in a lively style enjoyed by adults and youth. They have recorded five albums to date.

Ralph Martin

President of Renewal Ministries

Ralph Martin is the president of Renewal Ministries, an organization devoted to Catholic renewal and evangelization. Renewal Ministries is the sponsor of The Choices We Face, a widely viewed weekly Catholic television and radio program distributed throughout the world, and engages in a wide variety of mission work in more than thirty countries.

Ralph is also the director of Graduate Theology Programs in Evangelization and a professor of theology at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in the Archdiocese of Detroit (www.shms.edu). He holds a doctorate in theology from the Angelicum University in Rome.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Ralph as a consultor to the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, and he continues to serve in this capacity. Ralph also was appointed as a theological expert for the Synod on the New Evangelization.

He is the author of the widely read The Fulfillment of All Desire: A Guidebook for the Journey to God Based on the Wisdom of the Saints, and many books on spirituality and evangelization, such as Will Many Be Saved? What Vatican II Actually Teaches and Its Implications for the New Evangelization, and The Urgency of the New Evangelization, as well as many articles in scholarly and popular publications. His most recent book, A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward, examines the forces working to undermine the Body of Christ while also using both Scripture and Tradition to fortify the faithful.

Ralph and his wife, Anne, reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and have six children and nineteen grandchildren.
