Renewal Ministries took its inaugural trip to Vietnam in 2007, at the request of Deacon Chua Doan and Bishop Joseph Nguyen Chi Link of the Thanh Hoa Diocese. Vietnam has a population of 87 million people; six million are Catholics, and the Church is growing. It is a Communist country, but we are allowed to minister within the Church property, which usually includes parishes, rectories, convents, or seminaries. In our trips to Vietnam, we’ve ministered to priests, religious sisters, seminarians, and lay people. We have taught on faith, evangelization, healing, gifts of the Holy Spirit, and prayer ministry.

Deacon Chau gave the homily at Mass each day. He also gave a teaching each day to a group of singles on marriage. I gave one talk to the parish and one talk to the singles. We also prayed over the people after my talk. People lined up for healing prayer every time they saw us, both before and after Mass. At a meal after Mass, one man said his sinuses were healed when I prayed with him.
