Weekly Inspiration: Heaven’s Love Language
by Pete Burak | May 22, 2026
By giving us an incredible glimpse into his motivation for coming to earth to save us, Jesus reveals that obedience is a love language of heaven: “But I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father (Jn 14:31). Jesus assents to the Father’s will not just out of an extraordinary love for us, but to reveal his incalculable love of the Father. To Him, there is no distance between obedience and love; his unquestionable trust in the Father springs from their perfect intimacy. Jesus invites us to experience that same profound connection with Him, which will allow us to readily believe his commands and act on them.
“Abide in me, and I in you . . . As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love” (Jn 15:4-9). Jesus invites us to live with Him and to allow Him to dwell in us and make a home with us. . . . We must keep reading, however, in order to not miss one of Jesus’ most important teachings: “If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love” (Jn 15:10). We live in God’s love through obeying Him.
