Weekly Inspiration: Step on the Dance Floor

by | Sep 4, 2026

Something I’ve known for some time is that I have two left feet. As much as I love music and enjoy a good dance floor at a wedding, the Lord has not blessed me with impressive rhythm. I’m okay with that. I’ve come to terms with it. I don’t plan on taking dance lessons anytime soon!

Spiritually speaking, however, I am called to become a better ‘dance’ partner. I am called to follow the Lord, to go where He goes, to move when He moves. My job is not to lead, to not get ahead, nor is it to fall behind or avoid the dance floor altogether. Instead, I am called to an intimacy with the Lord that guides me on the narrow path and equips me to pick up my daily cross.

To step on the dance floor means we allow the Lord to lead us, to sweep us off our feet, to delight in us. It means we freely choose to accept his love and love him in return, regardless of having two left feet.

. . .

Truth from Scripture:

If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Luke 9:23

. . .

Wisdom from the Saints:

“The crosses with which our path through life is strewn associate us with Jesus in the mystery of His crucifixion.”

// St. John Eudes
