Weekly Inspiration: Hearing the Father’s Voice
by Chris Baker | Jun 13, 2025
Jesus said, “The truth will set you free” (Jn 8:32), but that’s not just an abstract or theological truth—it’s the truth about you: your worth, your wounds, and your need for healing.
The problem is, we’re often formed more by the world’s wounds than by God’s Word. Many suffer in silence under emotional manipulation or spiritual confusion, not realizing they’ve internalized voices that were never from God. The world has formed us through pain and lies, and the enemy mimics God’s voice just enough to distort it. “Not all thoughts that enter your mind are your own,” writes Fr. Jacques Philippe. Many of the voices that stir anxiety and confusion aren’t from God, but we mistake them as truth.
We live in a world of noise—internal and external. Our hearts echo with the voices of others, our past, and the Enemy. These must be distinguished from the voice of the Lord, which always brings peace, never chaos.
Discernment is essential. Prayer is vital. But sometimes God also sends people—trusted counselors, spiritual directors, and friends—to help us see clearly again. These guides don’t replace God’s voice—they help us hear it.
Over time, as we silence the noise, clarity returns, and we begin to hear once again the voice that matters most:
“You are mine. I have called you by name—not the names others gave you, but the one I wrote in my heart. You are wounded, but I AM your healer. You are weary, but I AM your rest.”
May the eternal Word of the Father be the truth that silences every lie and leads you into freedom.
