Weekly Inspiration: Letting the Lord Build

by | May 15, 2026

I’ve experienced some changes in my personal life lately, not all of which were predicted or desired. It can be jarring. It’s tempting to wish things away. I can spend a lot of time thinking about how things used to be or how I’d prefer them to be. On the one hand, thinking through situations is natural and can produce thoughtful responses. However, if left unchecked, it can detach us from reality. We can miss the opportunity to grow in the present moment.

Psalm 127 reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” It’s a reminder that no matter what our plans are, or whatever curveball is thrown our way, we need the Lord to lead us. His ways are not our ways, and praise God for that reality! May we trust in his plans and see changes as opportunities for Him to work more concretely in our lives.
